Weigh in Wednesday #3: Return of the Veggies

Weigh in Wednesday 3

I am very pleased to report that “drink all the water, pee all the time” has finally settled. Otherwise, I feel that it has been a pretty bad week for achieving my goals.

I’m still not sorted for a yoga space. I will, absolutely sort that this week. It needs to happen now, as it is just dragging on.

My Couch to 5k fares as well. I have been trying to get my walks in, and I’m finding that I still have discomfort in my right ankle. Earlier this year, I managed to roll my ankle at work. I swear I am the only person who can find safety issues in safety boots! After rolling it, I limped around to finish my task, and cried as I tried to get the boot off. The next day, it had swollen up badly and clicked. A quick trip to A & E determined it was a nasty sprain. In retrospect, I think I should have rested it for much longer, as 6 months on, it still isn’t right. My plan is to strap it up a bit and see how I get on.

My last task for last week was to eat more fruit and veg. I haven’t kept a total on it, but I think I’ve done pretty well at that. My number 1 find this week was veggie couscous – “couscous” made of veg. I teamed it with toasted macadamia nuts, roasted veggies and some cheese.

This week’s weigh in result saw me gain 1lb. I am not too bothered as I usually gain a little around my period. I do need to be a bit more mindful of my food though. While I have been getting the veggies in, I haven’t been too careful on portion sizes or pudding.

So this week’s focuses are:

Go for a 10k walk. I want a benchmark to see where I am for the Cracker 10k. We don’t have much going on this weekend, so this shouldn’t be too much of a problem. I need to charge my Garmin for the event.

Get to bed before 10:30pm (with faffing about on my phone). I’ve got a busy few weeks ahead, and one of the best things I think I can do for myself is get to bed at a reasonable time. At the moment, I am getting to bed at gone 11pm, having had too much screen time in the run up to bedtime so I struggle to nod off.

Any tips on establishing a better bedtime routine?
