Weigh in Wednesday 13: Easter Egg Management

Weigh in Wednesday 13

Have I broken the Easter cycle? Maybe! I have very fond memories of Easter Sunday’s breakfast being an egg.

I didn’t do that this year, and in fact, I didn’t have masses of chocolate to eat. Normally, we’d go to my parents’ house for the day, and I’d haul my eggs home, and they would become the other food group that my meals would be based around. Not this time. I’ve decided that rather than binge eat them all (which is pretty tough to do anyway with dark chocolate, but I’d manage it), I have left my eggs at Mum and Dad’s, safe in the knowledge that they’ll survive longer there and I’ll enjoy it more when I do eat them.

As for the rest of the weekend, I ate pretty normally (with the exception of eating my fair share of Mum’s absolutely amazing shortbread, and the first ice cream of the year).

First Ice Cream

It turns out that by not binge eating ALL THE CHOCOLATE, I have dropped another 2lbs this week, which I am pretty chuffed with.  That takes my total weight loss this year down to 22lbs. I’ve said that when I hit my original Slimming World starting weight I would restart Couch to 5k. I’m about 5lbs away from that point. It’s still a stone heavier than when I completed Couch to 5k for the first time, but I think if I am sensible about it, and realistic in my expectations that I most probably am not going to complete it in the normal 9 weeks, then it’ll all be good.

My focus over the next week is to make sure I drink enough. I’m really beginning to feel sluggish, headachy and a bit naff at work, which I think is dehydration. The girls in the office like the temperature to be a couple of degrees cooler than the surface of the sun, and I can literally feel myself drying out.

What’s your favourite chocolate? Mine is probably Montezuma’s milk chocolate with chilli and lime. I don’t have it very often, so it feels like a real treat.

  1. Awesome job on not eating the eggs! Fortunately, I was away at my parents for the weekend and they dont buy Easter Eggs now as ‘we’re adults’… -_-‘ haha! I did however have some when I got back and so far I’ve managed to have dribs and drabs rather than eating the whole egg.

Well done with your weight loss, you’re doing great!

My favourite chocolate is by far Guylian chocolate.. I wish that came in easter egg form! ❤

    • Oh no! We still get eggs, though definitely not in the quantity that we used to (thankfully). Thank you 🙂

I do like Guylian too, and I’m partial to Lindt – good choice!

  2. Well done!! That’s such an amazing weight loss over such an indulgent holiday. As I said on Twitter, I took my chocolate home with me and then ate half of it in one sitting. I enjoy about 75% of it but the last 25% was just about finishing that section off and feeling a bit sick. Definitely better to eat it in smaller bits! I’ve never been one to be able to do this though. When I was a child I used to eat all my eggs as quickly as possible (I was also one of those kids who’d eat their entire advent calendar on day 1 too…).
Hahaha sorry to laugh but if I had my way I’d have the office that temperature too. Instead I’m in an office full of men who love it just above freezing. I spend most of the day huddled into my laptop with a hot cup of something.

    • Thanks! Yep, I was the same as a child (and into my 20s! Turning 30 has clearly been a turning point… Maybe!).

I would definitely do an office swap with you! I am amazed we aren’t more sickly as an office, as it must be an incubator for germs. Gross!

  3. Brilliant stuff well done!
I like Montezuma’s but chilli in chocolate is wrong! I like to have more expensive chocolate because then I don’t eat much of it in one go as it feels like too much money! I did just buy a half price chocolate egg sandwich in Hotel Chocolat today and hopefully that will last a while.

    • Thanks! I used to think the same, but this isn’t chilli chocolate like I have had before. It’s quite a lot more subtle and smooth.
That egg sandwich sounds like a bargain! And also very tasty 🙂
