Ultimate Coffee Date: April 2016

I’m not entirely sure how I missed posting for Ultimate Coffee Date in March, but I did! So, grab a mug of your favourite drink, pull up a chair, and let’s catch up!

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I am really loving the redecoration of our bedroom. It took forever to do, but it was worth every minute.  I’m not the tidiest of people (my mum has probably just spat her coffee out and laughed, as that would be a massive understatement), but since we redecorated and also had a massive clear out of clothes and junk, we’ve been keeping the room really tidy. I’m quite impressed with myself! While I’ve had a big clear out of stuff, I bought Marie Kondo’s The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying which I really need to 1) finish, and 2) get started on to process of decluttering. It’s scary how much stuff we have.

Our Bedroom

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I am going to Blogtacular, which is a blogging conference in London in June. I can’t wait. Blogtacular host Twitter chats at 9pm on Wednesdays to talk about all things blogging, and with each one that I participate in, I get more excited. I feel like I have to be careful not to wish away the next couple of months. I’ve been to a local blog meet up before (once), but nothing so professional (and big).

I am going to Blogtacular 2016

If we were having coffee, you’d probably be able to smell quite how strong it is from across the table. I am going through a silly rough patch of sleeping badly at the moment. I am a bit stressed out with work right now (oh hi, spots!), and I think it’s impacting my sleep. It’s time to make sure that I’m making good food choices during the day, drinking enough, getting the blood pumping again and staying away from screens before bedtime.

If we were having coffee, hopefully you would be able to see that my weight loss has continued in a positive vein this month. I’m about 5lbs away from looking at restarting Couch to 5k, so perhaps next month’s catch up will detail my adventures back into running. I’m definitely loving the lighter evenings (and gorgeous sunsets), so I feel like I need to get out there more in the evenings. I would really like to get back to parkrun, but I don’t want to be the person at the back, dragging it out for the tail runner.

Thanks, of course, to Debra, Lynda and Coco for hosting Ultimate Coffee Date each month! I think it’s a lovely way to catch up with and discover new blogs.

Have you been to a blogging event/conference before? Any tips?

What would you tell me over a catch up?

  1. Love that purple color on your wall! Always fun to redecorate isn’t it? That conference sounds fun I have not heard of that one. Sorry to hear about the sleep issues that is never fun but starting back on your couch to 5k is perfect timing for spring. Good luck and thanks for linking up today

  2. Steph, your room looks pretty cool and tidy. I have never heard of the Blogtacular, that is new to me. I have no doubt you will have a great time. Have a wonderful weekend and thank you for having coffee with us. 🙂

  3. If we were having coffee I would insist that you tried some of the local ground Mexican coffee that I was given instead of a chocolate egg for Easter! It’s a lovely aromatic non fattening alternative :-D. Which reminds me to congratulate you on your successful ongoing weight loss; I am looking forward to seeing future blogs about your running.

  4. It is always fun to re-decorate a room- it does make you keep things more tidy! I haven’t been to a bogging conference but I would sure love too- sounds like a blast! Thanks for coffee!

  5. Nice to meet you through the coffee date Steph! I so need to give my bedroom a make-over! Just when is there time for that?? I do not do a great job of keeping it tidy but I always feel better when it is.
Never been to a blogging conference but I so want to. I think I would really love it and connecting with others! Good luck on yours!

  6. I would tell you that parkrun is for everyone- run/ walk/ volunteer. It’s all good. Tail runners don’t mind how long they take. I promise. I have been the tail runner and taken 55 mins as some people walk the whole way. It’s all good.

    • Thank you Maria! I just feel bad if I am that person dragging it out. I have been the last person before, and the tail runner was really lovely but I felt bad. I need to put my name down to volunteer again actually, just to see how much bigger it is now as much as anything.

  7. Oooh, I am envious of you going to a conference. I’ve been to conferences for other fun things at times, but not for blogging. I’m too new at it!

I love your bedroom! My husband never lets me paint walls (or hire other people to paint walls) in vivid colors because he’s always thinking about resale. I suppose I can understand, as it is our 3rd home, but sometimes I get really bored by plain walls.

    • I have been to work related conferences before, but a proper blogging conference is new to me too! I am nervous but excited 🙂

I have the opposite problem with my husband – he’d like to paint everything in vivid colours. To be fair, we aren’t planning to move for a number of years yet, having only bought the house last summer.

  8. I love your room, especially the purple! I just came across and article on the book you mentioned on Tidying. I am going to have to purchase it as I am just starting to do some serious decluttering at our house. The Blog festival sounds Amazing!! I can not wait to get back to London, Enjoy! See you next month for coffee 🙂

    • Thank you! I hope you enjoy the book – it’s definitely interesting (some of the ideas are a bit alien to me, but it’s an interesting perspective!).

  9. I went to a blog conference a couple of years ago and honesty I was a little intimidated but I learned a lot! I know I rushed to get business cards at the last minute and it made me a little stressed out because they weren’t delivered in time. I think it’s a great way to meet local bloggers – I’m going to one in Philadelphia in a couple weeks!

    • Thank you Janelle! I have been looking at business cards, but haven’t decided on a design yet. Thank you for the tip! I hope you have a lovely time in Philadelphia in a couple of weeks.

  10. I’ve missed a couple of coffee dates too. That first Saturday pops up fast sometimes!! Congratulations on accomplishing some of your goals (bedroom, weight loss). I’m excited for you to being couch to 5K soon! Can’t wait to read about it!!

  11. Oh you wouldn’t be making anyone wait at parkrun don’t worry! We have someone who walks the whole thing and no one minds – not even the clear up crew (and I should know as I’m one of them!) But well done anyway on your weight loss 🙂
Your room looks lovely. I love purple!
